Unit 3 · We are what we eat

p.30–37 + p.120 · 9 页 · 10 段音频

本单元知识框架

本单元围绕“饮食与健康、环境”的话题,学习食物词汇、可数与不可数名词及相关量词用法,练习在餐厅点餐和道歉的交际功能,并通过阅读探讨吃昆虫及世界各地饮食习惯。

学完能做到

  • Talk about food and order a meal in a café or restaurant
  • Use countable and uncountable nouns with a/an, some, any, much, many, a lot of, too and enough
  • Apologise and respond to apologies using appropriate key language
  • Read an online article and a blog to identify main ideas and specific details about diets
  • Write a short paragraph describing what you eat and evaluating if it is healthy or unhealthy

教学重难点

  • 中国学生极易混淆 much 和 many 的搭配对象,受母语“多少”一词通用的负迁移影响,常造出 *How much apples do you want? 或 *I don't drink many coffee. 这样的错句。课上在 Grammar 板块需反复强调公式:many + 可数名词复数,much + 不可数名词,并利用 Vocabulary 里的食物词(如 carrots, coffee, yogurt)做大量替换操练。
  • 学生在口语和写作中常遗漏 too many/too much 与 (not) enough 后面必须接名词的规则,或者把 enough 放错位置,写出 *There are too many on the pizza.(脱离语境不知所云)或 *We haven't enough time.(虽语法成立但本单元重点训练 enough + noun)。在 Grammar 和 Get it Right! 环节要对比板书:too many + 可数名词复数(too many sweets),too much + 不可数名词(too much fat),(not) enough + 名词(enough greens)。
  • a/an 的使用是初一学生的典型易错点,学生往往只看单词首字母而非发音,容易写出 *a omelette 或 *an university。Grammar 板块讲 a/an, some, any 时,教师必须明确指出 an 用在元音音素(vowel sound)开头的词前,并带读 an apple, an omelette,让学生在 Workbook 练习中圈出元音音素开头的词。
  • too + 形容词 与 not + 形容词 + enough 表达相反含义时的转换是中国学生的难点,常出现逻辑错误或语序错误,例如想表达“夏天不够长”却写成 *The summer is too short enough. 或 *The summer is not enough long.。教师在讲解 Reading 课文原句 The summers are not long enough. 时,需拆解结构公式:not + adj. + enough,并与 too + adj. 进行同义句转换对比练习。
  • 在 Developing speaking 和 Functions 板块,学生习惯用中式英语直译道歉,只会说 *I'm sorry very much. 或 *I am apologize.。教师应利用 Key Language 框,强制输入地道表达 I’m really sorry. 和 I feel really bad.,并结合 Phrases for fluency 里的 Actually, Don't worry, So what? 等话语标记语,让学生进行 Disappearing sentences 记忆操练,形成语块输出。
  • 部分食物词汇的发音和拼写对学生有挑战,如 savoury(注意不是 savory)、omelette(重音和拼写)、yogurt。此外,学生容易混淆评价食物的褒贬义词,比如认为 salty 是好词,或将 yummy 用在正式写作中。在 Vocabulary 板块讲 Adjectives to talk about food 时,教师应引导学生在黑板上画出从 'very good' 到 'very bad' 的标尺(scale),将 delicious, nice, (a bit) boring, horrible, disgusting 准确定位,并特别补充说明 yummy 非常非正式(informal),而 savoury 是褒义的“咸鲜”,salty 则是贬义的“太咸”。

四项技能

听
听一段咖啡馆点餐对话,根据录音补全菜单上的食物和饮品词汇;听 Steve 和 Hannah 点餐的对话,记录他们各自吃喝了什么,并回答细节问题
说
运用 Do you like...?

Countable and uncountable nouns

可以按个数计算的名词为可数名词(如 one carrot, two carrots),有复数形式;不能按个数计算的名词为不可数名词(如 rice, coffee),没有复数形式。

  • Can I have a carrot?
  • I don’t like rice.
  • I don’t like peppers.
a/an, some, any

a/an 用于单数可数名词前,其中 a 用于辅音音素开头的词前,an 用于元音音素开头的词前。some 用于肯定句中的可数名词复数和不可数名词前,也可用于表示提供或请求的疑问句中。any 用于否定句和一般疑问句中。

  • Would you like some coffee?
  • Can I have an apple or a banana?
  • Are there any peppers in the kitchen?
  • There isn’t any yogurt in the fridge.
(how) much / (how) many, a lot of / lots of

much 和 how much 用于不可数名词,many 和 how many 用于可数名词复数,通常用于疑问句和否定句。a lot of 和 lots of 既可修饰可数名词复数,也可修饰不可数名词,常用于肯定句。

  • How much meat do you eat?
  • How many people eat insects?
  • Farms use a lot of water.
  • Insects have got lots of protein.
too many/much, (not) enough + noun

too many 后接可数名词复数,too much 后接不可数名词,表示“太多”。(not) enough 放在可数名词复数或不可数名词前,表示“(不)足够”。

  • I try not to eat too many sweets.
  • He eats too much fat.
  • They don’t eat enough greens.
  • There are too many people in the city.
too + adjective, (not +) adjective + enough

too + 形容词表示“太……”,指超出喜欢或需要的程度(more than we like or want)。not + 形容词 + enough 表示“不够……”,指未达到喜欢或需要的程度(less than we like or want)。

  • The winters are too long there.
  • The summers are not long enough.
